DROUHIN VAUDON

In the 1960s, when the Chablis region had largely been abandoned as a home of quality winemaking due to phylloxera, Robert Drouhin took a leap of faith. Consequently, Maison Joseph Drouhin has been a pioneer in the Chablis region for almost 50 years, gradually expanding their vineyard holdings to 38 hectares.

Robert’s foresight meant that he was able to accrue some of the best vineyards in the area, including parcels of 4 Grand Crus (Vaudésir, Les Clos, Les Preuses and Bougros) and 7 Premier Crus. The wines are incisively expressive of these individual terroirs and the vintage.

Since the end of the 1980’s, under the impetus of Philippe Drouhin, Domaine Drouhin Vaudon adopted biodynamic cultivation, born out of a desire to limit man’s impact on nature, and is now the largest estate in Chablis embracing this method of winemaking.

Varietal: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol: 12.5%
Oak-ageing: Unoaked
Closure: Natural Cork

TASTING NOTE:

Powerful, rich, rounded and mineral wine. Brilliant yellow colour. Elegant and complex nose. The aromas are reminiscent of citrus as well as white flowers. The wine is harmonious on the palate and develops a nice structure.

CHABLIS GRAND CRU ‘BOUGROS’ 2016

Varietal: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol: 12.5%
Oak-ageing: 12 months in oak
Closure: Natural Cork

TASTING NOTE:

A delicate and ample wine, easy to appreciate. The pale yellow color is very pure, with light green reflections. On the nose, floral aromas of acacia harmonize with vegetal notes of fern and coriander. The aromas on the nose are amplified when the wine is in the mouth, together with new notes of orange or lemon marmalade. It has a soft, round, well balanced body. The aromas of fruit are enhanced by intense mineral notes evolving towards a slightly flinty flavour. Beautiful length on the aftertaste.

CHABLIS GRAND CRU ‘VAUDÉSIR’ 2017

Varietal: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol: 12.5%
Oak-ageing: Unoaked
Closure: Natural Cork

TASTING NOTE:

An exquisite wine often drunk on its own as an aperitif. Pure and limpid colour, with a faint greenish hint. On the nose, fresh aromas of flower and fruit (lemony flavours) and, at times, spicy notes of coriander. On the palate: harmonious aromas bringing character and elegance. The magnitude of its Grand Cru origin and the light salty notes from the Kimmeridgian soil are in evidence. Remarkably long and complex persistence in the aftertaste
